Dalai Lama
Who is the Dalai Lama?
His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, or Tenzin Gyatso - which is his monks name
- was born on the 6 July 1935 to a poor farmers family in the Tibetan
province of Amdo. A search expedition which consisted of specially chosen
monks, sought and finally also located the two year old child. To make
sure that they really had found the reincarnation of the XIII. Dalai Lama,
they subjected the boy to several examinations which he all passed, and
so it became evident that the child whom they had come upon was indeed
the XIV. Dalai Lama, the political and spiritual leader of Tibet.
