Der Ring des Buddha - Filmmusik
For the music, Grube and Breitenstein
turned to the young German composer Oliver Heise, whose reputation
as a musician of note had been secured when he received top
honours in a film composer's competition in Bonn, Germany.
Heise's large-scale, complex score made use of the full Royal
Philharmonic Orchestra London, with special solos for sitar,
tabla, Asian flutes, and a piano which Heise himself played.
Heise's music runs the gamut of styles, ranging from expansive
orchestral themes, intimate writing for piano and strings,
long sections of innovative pizzicato performances, powerful
timpani-led action music, and unusual dissonant orchestration
and harmonic techniques which, at times, were reminiscent
of the work of Paul Hindemith. webseite zur Filmmusik: rpofilmmusic
